NEWS/INFORMATION:

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Please Read

Coaches and Team Managers:

Thank you to those of you who attended the Coaches Meeting for Division 3 teams last month.  To those of you who could not, the following is the more important information we discussed:

First, game cards for Division 3 games should be addressed to: Chip Cox, 7386 Sedgefield Avenue, San Ramon, CA  94583.  Game Cards should be stamped and addressed by the home team before games, and mailed by the referee with the final score and any cautions or send offs.  (Traveling House Division 4 games continue to send their game cards to Dave McCarthy.)

Second, the coach or team manager of every team should report the score of each game to MySoccerLeague.com.  Each team has at least one team representative, specified on MySoccerLeague.com, who should have received a user name and password.  The user name and password allows them to log on to MySoccerLeague.com and report scores.

When only one team has reported a score, the game is marked with a star.  The game is reported in the standings, but remains provisionally reported until the second team reports the same score.  If both reported scores are the same, the game is final; if both reported scores differ, the game is reported to the Match Secretary and must be reconciled.

The user name and password from last year will still work.  If your name was added to the web site as a new coach or manager this year, you should have received a user name and password from the web site.  If you have lost or forgotten your user name and password, or have not received one, please let me know and I will add you to the database, or direct the web site to resend your user name and password.

Third, the league adopted a new rule this year, allowing teams to reschedule individual games under limited circumstances.  If, at least one week before the scheduled game, the home and visiting teams, home club field coordinator, and home club referee coordinator agree on a new date, time and field.  Until that agreement is reported to the League Manager, the game remains as scheduled.

Please do not kill the golden goose.  Games should rarely be rescheduled.  If too many teams ask field coordinators to reschedule games, they will be overwhelmed and begin to refuse requests.  It is this very concern that led the League to deny teams this privilege in the past.  If field coordinators are overwhelmed, they can and may refuse requests to reschedule games.  We have more than 150 teams, and if every team reschedules only one game each, it will likely be too many.

Fourth, the Al Caffodio League requires at least one licensed referee to play a sanctioned game.  If at least one licensed referee cannot referee the game, the home team forfeits the game.  (Al Caffodio League Rules, Article 1, General Rules, Section IV. Referees.)  If a properly assigned referee cannot referee the game, and the home club cannot assign a substitute referee at the time of the scheduled game, a licensed referee may be provided in the following order of preference:

  • Host team shall provide a qualified, unaffiliated official

  • Visiting team shall provide a qualified, unaffiliated official

  • Visiting team shall provide a qualified, affiliated official

  • Host team shall provide a qualified, affiliated, official

(“Qualified” officials are licensed officials.)  An affiliated official may even include a coach or assistant coach properly licensed as a referee, if necessary.  The intent of the rule is to play the scheduled game, if possible.

If you have any questions, please ask your club representative or me, and thank you for all the time you volunteer to make this league possible.
